Stroud Valley Sub-Aqua Club is a SCUBA diving and snorkelling club open to everyone interested in underwater exploration.
SVSAC is a Branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), branch number 1521. The Branch has been registered with BSAC since 1987 and at present has around 60 members.
The club is governed by an elected committee. The SVSAC committee and experienced instructor group is made up of dedicated members with a passion for diving, snorkelling, instructing and the welfare of all club members.
SVSAC is very active teaching club. Both novice and experienced divers and snorkellers are encouraged to do as much training as they wish.
SVSAC members organise training and non-training dives throughout the season for a full range ability and interests.
SVSAC welcomes new members and if you are interested in seeing what we do, please get in touch with one of our committee. Alternatively come along to a club night at Archway School pool.
The main sport diving season generally starts around March and ends around November. Typically we dive once every second weekend, with the majority of the diving consisting of day trips to the south coast. We dive from the shore and from boats.
Diving trips further afield e.g. Cornwall and Wales, usually involve a weekend away staying in B&Bs or camping.
The coastline of the British Isles has a lot to offer in terms of marine life and ship wrecks all making for an interesting underwater experience.
Special courses are often arranged during the year, e.g. life-saving, defibrillator operation, oxygen administration etc. As members of BSAC you can take other courses throughout the country, though they are often run within the branch or in conjunction with other local branches.
